Homecoming night at the Ironhall, a crumbling concert hall in a rainy rust-belt town. Dex Malloy has hauled amps for Thunderwitch for six years and never once told their singer, Mo, how he feels. At soundcheck the manager's antique amp gapes its skull jaws at Mo; Dex shoves her clear and is swallowed, waking in a silent world built from every metal album cover ever painted. An epic heavy-metal comedy of lava bridges, dorky skeletons and unspoken love.
